If the latter, then only 1570 film IMAX and dual laser IMAX is "real" IMAX and there are very few of those, not to mention the movie then needs to actually have those expanded aspect ratio scenes for true IMAX effect. What you consider Liemax depends whether you think IMAX is more about the giant screens, the picture quality, or the 1.43 square aspect ratio with action scenes where the aspect ratio opens up. Some would even say the single laser IMAX are Liemaxes because they can't fill the original giant 1.43 aspect ratio screens. ![]() Some people would say what you described is Liemax because of the xenon and some would say it isn't Liemax because of the fairly large screen. The worst possible IMAX experience is small screen and xenon projectors, particularly the older xenons because they can't do high frame rates. You'll often hear people specifically talking about this theater with regards to real imaxĭolby (AMC theaters) is an awesome sounds and damn good screen and is choice #2 (although some people prefer it for the better sound and still amazing picture). Note: AMC Lincoln Square (NYC) is often called out for being a real imax and a sorta premier theater in the US for imax movies. There really aren't that many real IMAX screens though for regular movies.
